There are over 500.000 apps available on the app store. That’s a quite impressive figure that makes it hard to choose when you’re looking for something new for your iPhone. I’ve written this post hoping to help you make up your mind from the most downloaded apps.
Most downloaded iPhone apps
This app can tell you the temperature in your city, just like any other weather app, but it can also make a more localized forecast. it shows you the day’s weather, a scrollable weekly forecast as well as the Wundermap, which lets you overlay temperatures and things like animated radar images on top of Google Maps.
Gas Buddy
This marvellous app tells you the prices of Gas in every Gas station with regular updates (as well as telling you what time the last update took place) so that you know where and which is the cheapest Gas station at the moment.
MapQuest
This free application is very good for directions when you’re going somewhere for the first time. It’s free, and it includes some helpful features such as traffic, walking directions and a low battery mode.
ESPN ScoreCenter
This application keeps you informed about any sport event that’s taking place. You get to choose your favourite teams so that you always know how they’re doing even if you can’t watch the match.
iMapMyRUN+
Get this application if you’re into fitness or if you want to keep a daily running routine. It’s a free exercise tracker that combines your iPhone’s GPS with Google Maps to plot your running routes automatically.
Flashlight
This application by Surplax uses your phone camera’s flash as a surprisingly bright flashlight which you can turn on and off by sliding a screen-centered power. Although it’s ad-supported, the ads only take up one tenth of the screen.
Tweetbot
This app is a full-featured Twitter client with a handsome interface, multiple timelines, media attachments that are extremely easy to use, customizable tabs and time-saving gesture controls, and it only costs $3.
StumbleUpon
This application shows you different kinds of cool stuff on the internet (from funny articles to delicious recipes) and remembers what kind of things you like as you provide more and more feedback with its thumbs-up and thumbs-down buttons.
Instapaper
This app lets you save things to read later for just $5. it’s very good if you’re a “procrastinator” because you can save any article you can’t read at the moment there.
LogMeIn
This app lets you control your home computer right from your iPhone. Although the $40 “Pro” version lets you access file transfers, HD video streaming and robust photo management, the free version doesn’t give you the same desktop experience but does allow remote access to your PC or Mac and lets you run programs.
iTunes U
This is a learning app that allows you to access high-quality educational material and complete courses from universities such as Stanford, Yale, MIT, etc… letting you choose from over 500,000 books, videos and lectures.
ShopSavvy
This is a very helpful shopping app that tells you if you can get a better deal online or at another nearby store.
AngryBirds
There’s no best-app-list that doesn’t have AngryBirds written in capital letters in it. The most popular app and one of the most popular games in history is certainly a must-have for your iPhone.
gMusic
This is a very useful music app that holds up to 20,000 songs that you can download from computers, phones or tablets. It supports playlist editing, offline listening and lock screen controls and you can easily use it instead of Apple’s default Music app.
Springpad
This app allows you to save tasks, notes, ideas and images for later. It’s good because you can just stockpile them and access them whenever you want.
